ABOUT PROXIMEX

Market Overview
It’s a problem in nearly every conceivable market – information overload. But for the security industry, this problem can dramatically affect the actions and resolutions of critical security incidents. How do you find the essential information that you need – especially under a threat alert? How do you communicate critical information quickly, succinctly and confidently to first responders? A new movement in the marketplace called Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) can help solve this problem.

For decades, physical security officers have dealt with the latest in video and security surveillance systems only to realize time and time again that these systems won’t “talk” to each other. Information from each system must be reviewed manually to connect incidents, costing valuable time and resources. New security technologies are being deployed to help deter new threats, while at the same time, making the task of sharing information ever more difficult.

Adding fuel to the “disparate systems” fire is the lack of communication between the physical security and the IT departments. Many physical security departments don't understand how to share information between their disparate systems nor the network impact of adding new security systems. And few IT departments have taken the time to understand the urgency and needs the physical security department require in order to successfully protect the company, its people and assets. It is crucial that the leaders of these departments, right up to the CIO and CSO levels, meet to find solutions that benefit the entire organization. Here is where PSIM makes its biggest impact – in assisting these departments to work together smoothly.

Market Opportunity
For the past decade, and most certainly since 9/11, organizations within all industries and of all sizes have been alerted to their need for better security. Proximex gathered deep insight of public safety issues and policies through its airport customers. Using these lessons, Proximex has worked closely with systems integrators to apply them to the enterprise market. Examples of Fortune 1000 organizations with an urgent need for systems security management include defense, transportation and corporations with large and/or remote locations.

History
Jim Barth and Ken Prayoon Cheng, two Silicon Valley veterans who saw that that their success and knowledge of the IT world was directly applicable to the physical security industry, founded Proximex in 2004. Since then, Proximex has built an exceptional team, combining world-class management, engineering and research professionals to develop award-winning applications for the security industry. The company’s Surveillint technology was launched at ISC West 2006 exhibition in Las Vegas and at the AAAE 2006 Airport conference in San Diego to high acclaim. Today, the company continues to raise the bar in security technologies and holds many patents designed to excel at managing information in the most complex security environments.
